In modern padel, where pairs often form and split during the season due to technical choices or things like injuries, Javi Barahona and Javi García are a rare and romantic exception. The “Javis,” now playing in the quarterfinals of the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1, are one of the longest-standing pairs in the international circuit.
Their journey together began in October 2022 at the NewGiza P1, with great results right away, including winning the FIP Star Fastweb Padel Arena Perugia in 2023. In March 2024, after the tournament in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, they decided to go separate ways: Barahona played with Pincho Fernández and then with Teo Zapata, while García tried new partnerships with Muñoz, Diestro, and Mouriño.
But, as the Italian singer Antonello Venditti says, “Some loves go far away and then return.” That’s exactly what happened: the Javis chose to reunite after only seven months at the Dubai P1 in November 2024. This decision from the heart shows their strong bond, and it has paid off in recent months with four wins in the CUPRA FIP Tour — including a victory at the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup in Rome, showing their deep connection with Italy.
“This country feels like a second home to us,” said García and Barahona, who has played Serie A with Villa Pamphili Padel Club for four years. “We are always welcomed with great warmth and we have a strong bond with Italian fans. Playing at Allianz Cloud is an amazing experience.”
These words are full of meaning for the Javis, who also reached the quarterfinals at last month’s Paris Major. They will return to Italy in two weeks for another big event — back where it all began: the Fastweb Padel Arena in Perugia for the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup. A romantic return to the past, because, as they know, “some loves go far away and then return” — just like the love of Javi Barahona and Javi García for padel.
