Coello and Tapia unstoppable: 11th final in a row. And Arturo crowns Agus: “He’s the most complete player in history”

Unstoppable. With a 6-4 6-3 win over Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk in one hour and 17’, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia secured both their 11th consecutive final and the chance to claim their 11th title of the season on the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. There was nothing the No. 3 seeds could do against the dominance of Arturito and Agus, who will have the opportunity tomorrow – not before 6 p.m. – to defend the title they won last year at the Allianz Cloud. The match that thrilled the Milan crowd was decided by just a few key points: the decisive break in the first set came in the fifth game, when Coello and Tapia – after a penalty point given to Lebron for his reaction to an accidental shot from Tapia – earned two set points at 5-3 on their opponents’ serve, closing out the set shortly after. In the seventh game of the second set came another decisive break from the world No. 1s, who began their remarkable run of consecutive finals right after losing a semifinal to El Lobo and Stupa in Miami.

“Tapia is the most complete player in history – said Coello –. He’s got the physique, the technique, he’s strong in defense, but it’s the mental aspect that makes the difference. I try to learn as much as I can from him and to give him a hand”. Agustin then spoke about the incident with the accidental shot that hit Lebron: “I’d like to apologize to him, of course I didn’t hit him on purpose. It was a moment of tension, and our coach (Gustavo Pratto, ed.) managed to keep us calm and help us get back into the match. That’s what makes us strong and helps us”.
