The 2022 edition of Milano Premier Padel P1 was extraordinary, unforgettable. But the feeling was that something was still missing. The big news of the event scheduled at the Allianz Cloud from December Monday 4th to Sunday 10th – tomorrow at 11.30 a.m. at Palazzo Marino is scheduled the presentation press conference, Saturday at 1.30 p.m. the draw – is the women’s draw: the wait to see the strongest players in the world on the field is so big, also because the Padel Masters will all be in Milan and can’t wait to get on court. “We are training a lot, for an intense and exciting week, but above all fun”, the words of Gemma Triay, one of the most awaited players. Triay, number 3 in the world, will play with Marta Ortega, number 4: the two Spaniards have already experienced the joy of winning a Premier Padel tournament in Italy, in July, at the Foro Italico (Rome), in the historic event that marked the debut of the women’s draw in the circuit. The one in Milan will be the fourth ‘combined’ Premier Padel tournament and, as evidence of the balance that reigns, the previous three were won by three different pairs.
Triay/Ortega won in Rome, Delfina Brea and Bea Gonzalez (who will be the number 3 seed in Milan) triumphed in Madrid, while at Roland Garros it was the turn of the ranking queens, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria, who were celebrated in Paris after losing the final at both the Foro Italico and Madrid. Just off the podium of the Milan entry list are Alejandra Salazar/Sofia Araujo (4) and Tamara Icardo/Virginia Riera (5), but there are also Italian hopes at the Allianz Cloud. Carolina Orsi, gold medallist at the European Games in Krakow and number 28 in the ranking, will play as a partner with Spain’s Carla Mesa; also directly in the main draw are Carlotta Casali and Emily Stellato (recent Italian champions in Parma), while Giorgia Marchetti (gold medallist in Krakow with Orsi) and Chiara Pappacena have received a wild card and promise battle.
