‘Superpibes’, it’s a great Saturday Stupaczuk-Di Nenno in final, Coello-Tapia out

No fifth title in a row on the Premier Padel circuit for Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia. Not even 24 hours after their victory in a crazy quarter-final against Gonzalez/Garrido, which had given Coello the certainty of ending 2023 at number 1 in the FIP ranking, ‘Arturito’ and Agustin were defeated by ‘Superpibes’ Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, who tomorrow (after the women’s final, and in any case not before 4.30 p.m.) against Ale Galan and Juan Lebron will try to win their second Premier in 2023 after the Doha one that opened the season. It ended 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 12 minutes with Stupaczuk who played an impressive match.

Break in the first game for the Argentine and immediately confirmed, then two games in a row by Coello and Tapia and a break for them. Absolute show and another break for the Argentinians (4-3), with a series of uncatchable smashes by Stupa. In the tenth game, everything happened: two set points were cancelled, as two break points to make it 5-5, before the final 6-4. The decisive break in the second set came in the fifth game, with Coello losing his footing and giving up his service game. He and Tapia, however, didn’t up, they had three break points in the eighth game but Stupa and Di Nenno replied, before taking the ovation of the Allianz Cloud and reaching a final after the last in the Premier Padel circuit at home, in Mendoza.

“We stayed with our heads on every ball – said Stupaczuk –. Congratulations to our team, I dedicate this victory to everyone who cares about the Superpibes”. Di Nenno, close to Stupa, cheers his teammate’s super performance: “Franco was the best player in the match”.
