There is no doubt that the Oysho Milano Premier Padel, now in its fourth year of major international padel in Milan, has played a key role in the padel boom in Lombardy and across Italy. According to a study by the FIP Research & Data Analysis Department – the research center of the International Padel Federation – Lombardy has, as of September 30, 2025, 1,451 courts across 456 clubs. In 2022, the year of the first P1 at the Allianz Cloud, there were 858 courts — an impressive increase of almost 40%.
With 400,000 players out of about 1.5 million nationwide, Lombardy is the driving force behind the passion for this sport. From an infrastructure perspective, growth is unstoppable: in 2025 alone, 33 new clubs opened and 111 new courts were installed, accounting for 22% of Italy’s total. Moreover, nearly 83% of new courts are indoor. For three consecutive years, Lombardy has been the region with the highest number of new installations, and also the most “European” in its approach to padel — with modern facilities, multifunctional clubs, and premium experiences for both players and spectators.
Milan is the “engine” of the region, but padel in Lombardy — the leading region for new installations for three years in a row — continues to grow, with over 10,000 registered players, both men and women. Among the provinces, Brescia (69) and Bergamo (50) lead in the number of facilities, followed by Pavia (39) Varese (38), Monza e Brianza (31), Como (26), and Mantova (22). Strong growth has also been recorded in Sondrio (+500% and +300% in the number of clubs and courts compared to 2022) and Cremona (+129% and +179% compared to three years ago). Lecco (94%) and Lodi (88%) have the highest percentage of indoor courts, showing the desire to play all year round.
The growth in attendance at the Oysho Milano Premier Padel also reflects this Milanese and Lombard trend: in the first year of the major tournament, there were 27,000 spectators; the 2024 edition closed with 32,000, with strong expectations for further growth in 2025.
