The bar will be raised tomorrow, with Coello and Tapia facing Paquito Navarro and Jon Sanz (5), who defeated Inigo Jofre and Alex Arroyo 6-3 6-4. Momo Gonzalez and Fran Guerrero also reached the quarter-finals with a double 6-4 victory over Fede Mouriño and Rama Valenzuela.
In the women’s draw, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez had a thrilling debut, forced into a third set by Noa Canovas and Laia Rodriguez: the number 2 seeds won 6-1 4-6 6-3 and tomorrow they will face Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo (7), who also played three sets against local idol Carolina Orsi, who came close to pulling off an upset before losing 6-2 4-6 6-2.
