The thrill of the first time. Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria will play tomorrow in their first final at the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1. The pair, currently number two in the FIP rankings, were semifinalists in 2023 but had to withdraw last year due to injury. Today, they opened the program with a 6–3, 6–1 win over Andrea Ustero and Sofia Araujo. It was a one-sided semifinal in the women’s draw, lasting just 1 hour and 17 minutes. Ustero and Araujo – finalists two years ago – managed to recover a break after being down 3–1 in the first set, but then lost their serve again at 3–3. From there, the Spanish duo took control of the match and played a flawless second set.
“It’s exciting to be in the final,” said Ari Sanchez. “Playing in Italy is always amazing because padel is reaching such a high level here, and the fans are always so warm.” Paula is already focused on tomorrow’s final: “We know it’s going to be a tough match, and we’ll have to fight hard because we’ll be facing a very strong pair.”
The “very strong pair” will be the one formed by Claudia Fernandez and Bea Gonzalez, who reached the final following Gemma Triay’s withdrawal.
