“I like the phrase ‘adapt or die’. Every year everything changes: the game, the rhythm, the partner. With Tello I had to play in a certain way, with Leo I have to do other things. The important thing is to evolve without losing your own essence.” Words of a motivated Martin Di Nenno after the first round of the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1. The Argentine, born in 1997, who played an amazing three-hour final at the Allianz Cloud in 2023 with Stupa against Lebron and Galan, wants to continue playing well with his new partner Leo Augsburger, with whom he already won the Madrid P1 at the end of August, and dreams of winning again in Milan: “Playing here is always a pleasure. The Italian crowd is very passionate and creates a unique atmosphere at the Allianz Cloud, which is perfect for padel”, he concluded.
Augsburger, who finished the match against Chamero and Jensen with a point already considered one of the best of the tournament (a recovery outside the court, a tweener, and a final smash), explained the differences in playing with Di Nenno and his former partner Cardona: “With Pablo we had a very offensive game, but I felt I needed someone who could help me more in defense, and Martín is perfect. With him I can grow and become more complete.” Leo, who won the world championship last year in Doha with Di Nenno, aims high but without feeling too much pressure: “I know there are many strong and more experienced players. I always try to stay grounded, focused on my game and personal improvement.”
