Josemaria-Sanchez and Galan-Lebron: both n.1 pairs in quarterfinals

Three games in two matches. Unstoppable Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, and Ale Galan and Juan Lebron, both in the quarter-finals of Milano Premier Padel P1. The women’s leaders, looking for their second consecutive success in a Premier after triumphing at Roland Garros, defeated 6-0 6-1 Nuria Rodriguez and Marta Talavan in 53 minutes; it took even less, 44 minutes, for the defending champions of the Allianz Cloud male tournament to beat Antonio ‘Pincho’ Fernandez and Gonzalo Rubio with a double 6-1.

The number of errors in the first set by Josemaria/Sanchez was impressive: only four. “Every victory is special – Josemaria said –. The dedication is always for my family, who cannot be here physically but who follow me every day”. Sanchez, smiling, then admitted that “she likes pasta alla carbonara” but promised to also try risotto alla milanese by the end of the week. In the quarters, here are Tamara Icardo and Maria Virginia Riera (5), who got the best of the very young Spaniards Alejandra Alonso and Andrea Ustero in three sets.

Then came Galan and Lebron’s show. “We are working very well – admitted ‘Lobo’ –. Antonio and Gonzalo (Fernandez and Rubio) are very dangerous, bt we played well”. “Before thinking about the title, we must hope to repeat tomorrow in the quarters the same level we expressed today”, added Galan. Next opponents are Rafa Mendez and Javi Rico, who defeated Arroyo/Alonso, the number 14 seed.
