“We were still in Germany for the Düsseldorf P2 and had just got on a bus that was completely empty apart from the driver,” Baldi recalls before heading out for her morning training session. “Then, a little later, I saw the email. I couldn’t hold back – I started screaming with joy”. Her reaction even took Aima by surprise. “I heard her shouting and got scared,” she adds with a laugh. “Then she told me to check my email, and I joined in”. The joy is overwhelming, although Baldi believes they will need time to take it all in. “It’s such a huge thing that perhaps we still haven’t fully realised what it means. We’ll probably understand when we get on the plane to Qatar. For now, all I know is that representing Italy will be the greatest honour of my life”. Aima agrees: “I think it’ll be difficult to sleep the night before we leave, given how much emotion we’ll be feeling”.

The prospect of representing their country is not distracting them from their immediate goal, however: securing a place in the main draw of the Milano P1. “We’ll definitely have extra motivation,” Baldi continues. “And we’ll need it, because tomorrow we’ll face a very tough challenge”. Milan was also where Baldi made her first international breakthrough two years ago, alongside Giulia Dal Pozzo, whom she will meet again in the national team. Having come through qualifying, the two outsiders reached the round of 16, beating, among others, padel legend Carolina Navarro, a former world number one who is now coach of the formidable Spanish women’s team. “That fantastic week made me realise I was on the right track and could believe in what I was doing. It gave me confidence and self-belief”. This year, she has put those qualities to good use alongside Aima, with the pair winning three titles on the CUPRA FIP Tour – the International Padel Federation‘s other major circuit alongside Premier Padel – in addition to the title they had already won in October 2025. Aima, who is making her debut at the Milano P1, explains the chemistry between them: “We understand each other on and off the court, but above all, we complement each other. I’m the one with lots of energy, while she gives me calm and confidence. We balance each other perfectly”.

The women’s qualifying rounds will also begin today, no earlier than 2 pm. One player recently selected to represent Italy at the upcoming Padel World Cup in Qatar will be in action. Martina Parmigiani, who will partner Germany’s Victoria Kurz against Amanda Lopez and Camila Fassio. Carlotta Casali, partnering Nerea Guerra, will face fellow Italian Lorena Vano and Spain’s Carmen Castillon. Italian wild cards Matilde Minelli and Camilla Livioni will face Marina Lobo and Marta Arellano today. “I’ve been coming to Milan since the very first edition; by now, it’s a classic for me,” the Italian player said following the draw at the Allianz Cloud, where he is ready to take to the court once again. His first goal is to get through his opening match against a pair coming through qualifying, with a possible second-round clash against world number 1 seeds Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello if he wins. It is a prospect Patiniotis looks forward to with enthusiasm. “Playing against them is always a reward for me. We’re talking about the world number 1s, two absolute champions. Of course, it’s something you want, even if it’s an extremely tough challenge. But before thinking about them, I have to take it one match at a time and focus on getting through the first round.”

From Milan to Doha, Patiniotis also has his sights set on the upcoming FIP World Cup, for which he has once again been selected to represent Italy. After winning silver at the 2024 European Championships and bronze at the 2025 edition, the Italian shirt has become a second skin for Patiniotis. He spoke about his bond with his national teammates and his ambitions for the next World Cup: “I always say that my teammates in the national team are like brothers to me. I’m fortunate to be able to represent this country and play alongside them. In Doha, we’ll try to do even better after finishing fourth in the previous edition.”

His bond with Italy is also rooted in his personal life. His family in Puglia, the warm welcome he has received over the years and the many similarities with Argentina, where he was born, make every tournament in Italy different from the others. “Playing in Italy is always special. My family is in Puglia: my sister, my nephew and my mum. The truth is that this country has always treated me incredibly well and reminds me a lot of Argentina.” Patiniotis feels close to both countries, which share a connection that, for him, is also reflected in their approach to sport. “I believe they are brother countries, and that’s also why I love being here so much and feel that the Italian shirt is my own. I love experiencing this atmosphere, in Milan, in Rome and throughout the country.”

MEN – The men’s draw features 48 pairs. The 16 seeded pairs will receive a bye into the second round. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, currently competing in the semi-finals of the Düsseldorf P2, will make their debut against the winners of the match between Italian player Aris Patiniotis, partnering Diego García, and a pair progressing through qualifying. MEN’S PLAYERS TO WATCH There is also plenty of anticipation for the men’s draw, with the spotlight on 22-year-old Flavio Abbate, the talented Italian who recently broke into the world top 50. The “son of the Island” – born and raised in Syracuse, Sicily – will partner Spain’s Alonso Rodriguez against a pair coming through qualifying. Should they progress, they would face Javi Garrido, ranked 19th in the world, and Juani De Pascual.

For the fifth year in a row, Padel is ‘on fire’ in Milan. OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1 returns to the Allianz Cloud, a tournament that represents one of the pillars of the professional circuit governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) with Qatar Sports Investments (QSI). The tournament’s place in the calendar remains unchanged from 2025, with the main draw scheduled from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October. The OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1, presented today at the Sala Appiani of the Arena Civica Gianni Brera in Milan, will welcome the strongest female and male players on the planet, with 1,000 points in the FIP Ranking at stake for the winning pairs, competing in a thrilling end to the season that will take all the biggest names in world Padel to Doha (Qatar) in a few weeks for the FIP World Cup – the world championships for national teams – before culminating in December with the highly anticipated Barcelona Finals, where the top 16 women and top 16 men in the world Race will compete.

Every year, the attendance record is updated, demonstrating the growing interest not only in the show provided by the champions in Milan, but also in a sport that is ‘horizontal’, open to everyone, inclusive and highly social. In 2025, more than 35,000 fans attended the Allianz Cloud, also as a result of the tournament being moved in the calendar from December to October starting with last year’s edition. Premier Padel is therefore returning to Italy for the second time after the Major in Rome in June, but October is also the month in which two other Italian cities (Perugia and Turin) will host two major tournaments, the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup events on the CUPRA FIP Tour, confirming how high-level Padel in Italy is increasingly driving the growth of the entire European and global movement.

The numbers for Padel in Italy continue to grow year after year: there are more than 1.5 million players, with more than 10,000 courts, a figure that has increased by 120% since 2021. And 27% of the total number of players in Italy, as highlighted by the FIP Research & Data Analysis Department – the research centre of the International Padel Federation – play in Lombardy, where the number of courts has increased by 180% since 2021. During the week of the OYSHO Premier Padel P1, the new edition of the World Padel Report, produced by FIP, will also be presented: an accurate worldwide census of a sport whose growth continues unabated, towards an Olympic dream.

INSTITUTIONS The event is also made possible thanks to Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, through the contribution of the Department for Sport, with the support of Lombardy Region and the patronage of the Municipality of Milan.

STARS Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan among the men, Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria  among the women, arrive in Milan as defending champions. While the ‘Chingalan’ pair remain protagonists of the never-ending battle against Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, Sanchez and Josemaria ended their legendary partnership at the end of last season; Ari is playing with Andrea Ustero, and arrives fresh from triumphing at the Paris Major, while Paula is partnering Bea Gonzalez, who won the 2023 edition alongside Argentina’s Delfi Brea. Coello and Tapia will attempt to reclaim the throne they already conquered in 2024, but watch out for the outsiders: Juan Lebron, winner in 2022 and 2023 with Galan, will play alongside Argentina’s Leo Augsburger, while Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz, Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro, the latter a favourite among the Italian crowd, will also look to challenge for the title. Among the women, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea will be the number one seeds, followed by Josemaria/Gonzalez and Ustero/Sanchez, but there is huge interest in the young pairing of Claudia Fernandez (2006) and Martina Calvo (2008), who have already won a P1 this year (in London). The OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1 will also be the final tournament in Italy for champion Ale Salazar, who will bring her extraordinary career to an end at the conclusion of the season. The 48-pair men’s main draw will feature all of the top 50 players in the men’s FIP Ranking; in the 28-pair women’s draw, meanwhile, the top 35 players in the world ranking will be present. For the first time in a Premier Padel competition, the winners will be presented not only with the traditional trophy but also with a ring, the “Champions’ ring” by Lagati Padel Jewels.

ITALIANS The OYSHO MilanoPremier Padel P1 will also serve as a springboard for the Italian players involved in the FIP World Cup in Doha from 2 to 7 November, where the women’s team will defend the bronze medal won two years ago (while the men finished fourth). Among the Italian women admitted to the main draw on ranking, the Allianz Cloud will feature Giulia Dal Pozzo and Carolina Orsi, partnering Spaniards Nuria Rodriguez and Patty Llaguno respectively; in the men’s draw, meanwhile, attention will be on Flavio Abbate (who will play with Alonso Rodriguez) and Alvaro Montiel (partnering Dani Santigosa). They will be joined by the wild cards, announced during the press conference. OFFICIAL APP The updated version of the Milano Premier Padel P1 app, available on the App Store and Google Play Store – and the first app for a single Premier Padel tournament ever launched – will offer an interactive and engaging experience, allowing fans to experience every moment of the tournament in real time. Designed to simplify access to all the information and activities related to the live event, the app offers numerous features and promotions designed for Padel fans, with an intuitive and user-friendly interface. In previous years, the Milano Premier Padel P1 app has already won over the public, recording a high number of downloads and significant interaction throughout the event. One of its most popular features is event management, which will allow registered users to book participation in exclusive appointments and activities, guaranteeing priority access. With just a few clicks, users can reserve their place and experience unique tournament-related activities from the inside. COMMERCIAL VILLAGE As in the previous four editions, a commercial village will be set up for all Padel fans, with Temporary Stores installed right next to the Allianz Cloud. All the leading brands from the world of Padel and beyond will be represented. There will also be a large food area with food trucks and a Heineken area, the tournament’s Official Beer. Everything has been designed to allow guests to spend an entire day at the Allianz Cloud enjoying Padel, technical tests with the most innovative sports equipment, shopping and food experiences.

SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS The Organising Committee has always aimed to minimise the event’s environmental impact by providing alternative forms of transport (electric cars for athlete and staff transportation) and a conscious and controlled energy supply for all activities carried out within the park and on the sports courts. For the fifth consecutive year, the tournament is pursuing a responsible approach to managing waste generated during the event through tracking and reporting activities concerning the impact associated with the waste produced.

Just a few weeks ahead of the FIP World Cup in Doha, Simone Iacovino and Giulio Graziotti will play the Milano Premier Padel P1 thanks to a wild card, as will Marco Cassetta (with Argentine Fabian Oviedo) and Aris Patiniotis, who will partner Spaniard Diego Garcia. Less than two months ago, Iacovino and Cassetta won the bronze medal together at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, with the Turin native also claiming silver in the mixed event alongside Giulia Dal Pozzo, who, like Carolina Orsi, has been awarded a place in the women’s main draw in Milan. The pair of Abruzzo’s Lorenzo Di Giovanni and Calabria’s Giuseppe Fino (2006) will instead attempt to earn a place in the main draw, with the latter one of the emerging talents of Italian padel alongside Matteo Sargolini (2007, from Civitavecchia), who will partner Turin’s Matteo Rosingana.

Rome’s Giorgia Marchetti, who won bronze in Taranto alongside Orsi, will also travel to the World Cup with the Italian national team and will play in the main draw of the OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1 with Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena. The wild cards for qualifying have instead gone to two very young players: 17-year-old Umbrian Matilde Minelli and 19-year-old Roman Camlla Livioni.
